Korsteel Sweet Iron Jointed Eggbutt Snaffle Bit

The Korsteel Sweet Iron Jointed Eggbutt Snaffle Bit is thought to be one of the simplest bits, and can be good for novice riders as the eggbutt cheek prevents too much vibration from the riders rein being felt by the horse.

Some horses often Arab or thoroughbred type, dislike a single joint as they have a low palette, in this case a french link or double jointed mouthpiece often keeps the horse relaxed in his mouth more than a single joint.

Made from Black iron and copper which slowly oxidises and rusts producing a sweet taste in the horse's mouth encouraging salivation and a more relaxed jaw. 

Sweet iron is a good metal for horse bits, as it provides the horse with a 'taste', stainless steel is a very bland metal and a lot of horses find it difficult to relax and mouth a stainless steel bit.
