Important note: We always recommend using the Fitkit (within 7 days of a fresh trim suitable for a working barefoot horse) to size Scoots as their size chart although a good guide, cannot take into account heel height/ hoof angle and a number of other factors which will also play a big part in determining the correct boot size.

Scoot boots are very lightweight and simple hoof boots, that represents the latest innovation in hoof boot technology. The Scoot boot unlike other hoof boots, will not get soggy, heavy or wet when riding through wet terrain, as there are no material parts to hold moisture. The Scoot Boot is constructed of very strong thermo-plastic urethane (TPU) as well as the securing straps, which gives the Scoot Boot superb strength to stand up to all types of terrain that you and your horse may ride over.

The lower slots in the redesigned Scoot boots, offer an even better fit and a more secure boot than ever before.

Scoot boots do not have Velcro straps that can get clogged with mud, hair and other debris; there will be no broken cables and there will be nothing that needs to be replaced. Scoot boots are so easy to fit that any person from the very young to the very old will be able to fit the Scoot Boot onto their horse’s hoof.

The Scoot Boot is advertised to fit more hoof shapes than any other boot on the market. Whether your horse’s hoof is longer than wider or wider than longer the Scoot Boot will give your horse a very secure fit. Unlike other hoof boots, the securing is all about the upper part of the boot, and not the straps, to keep it safely secure which leasds to a more stable boot.The Scoot Boots do not move once they are on and no adjustment is required as the boot is secured by parts of the hoof that do not grow.

Please note Scoot boots are not suitable for:

Hooves with high heels, long toes or flared hoof walls
Clubbed feet
Hooves that are more than 10mm wider than longer, or more than 10mm narrower than the hoof length measurement

How long do Scoot Boots last?

The Scoot Boot shell and securing straps are made from thermoplastic polyurethane, which has excellent abrasion and shock absorbing abilities. Scoot Boots do not have any components that will break off.

The durability of any hoof boot will depend on the type of terrain you are riding on and the gait of the horse. If the horse has a floating movement, then the boots will last several years with occasional riding. If the horse scuffs and twists its feet, then the Scoot Boots will wear slightly faster. For endurance riding, you can expect to get around 600 miles or more (1,000 kilometres) from a pair of Scoot Boots. Again, this will depend on how light the horse is on its feet.

Fitting Notes:

It is recommended to use the fitkit first when sizing Scoots, as this is the most reliable way to ensure you have the right size and fit before ordering the boots you want. You can hire a fitkit HERE

Please note that Scoot boots are not recomended for use on hooves with any flare, they are designed to fit a well trimmed, barefoot hoof only.

- Ensure front closure straps are undone and the pastern strap is detached from one side on the rear of the boot

- Pick up the hoof with the sole facing upwards in the trimming position and slip the toe of the hoof into the boot

- Pull the rear of the boot over the bulbs and place the hoof onto the ground

- You should be able to fit a finger between the strap and the bulbs. If you cannot do this, you are a size too small. At no time should the strap be placing pressure on the bulbs

- The hoof should slip comfortably into the boot

- The fit should be snug and not tight or loose

- To secure the front closure straps, grip the end of the strap with your thumb and forefinger. Stretch the strap over the knob hook at an angle and slip the elongated hole over the top or bottom edge of the knob hook

- When the straps have been secured the gap at the front should a minimum 10mm (3/8") and a maximum of 15mm (5/8"). After riding you will find that the boot will mould to the hoof and the gap will reduce in width. An ideal gap is approx 10mm (3/8")

- Scoots work best when they are a tight fit, it is recommended to try the Scoot fit kit first where possible, to make sure you have the best fit for the hoof.

Important storeage instructions for hoof boots:

Please ensure you store your ScootBoots in their net bag ONLY and NOT placed (even in their bag) in any other type of other box/ container. As heat and certain chemicals can affect the material boots/ straps are made from, they should also not be left in a car that may become hot, and should be stored out of direct sunlight and not come in to contact with any preparations such as fly spray or hoof oils etc. Failure to do this could lead to the boots and/or straps perishing (and is not covered under Scoots warranty).
