The Universal Gag with Lozenge combines poll pressure and leverage, for a mild gag action.

The lozenge prevents the nut cracker action, and is readily accepted by most horses. Universal bits are ideal when you need some extra brakes and/ or steering, but you don't want to step up as far as a Pelham or true gag.
