Old Mac's G2 multi purpose horse boots now available in larger sizes, 11 and 12, sized every 10cm to help cater for larger footed equines such as Draughts, Shires and Warmbloods. The Old Mac G2 are the second generation hoof boots based on the original old Mac's multi purpose hoof boots, but with significant improvements. The old Mac G2 hoof boot has a unique high-tech performance out sole, incorporating the unique hoof suspension system. The sole of the hoof boot is constructed from a specially developed ThermoPlastic Urethane (TPU) compound, which absorbs shock and aids recovery from concussion related injuries, as well as helping to prevent them.
The sole of the G2 Old Mac's is slightly less aggressive than the original old Mac boots which still affords excellent traction but without any risk of jarring of the leg. The toe is also more rounded than original old Mac hoof boots which aids a more natural breakover, an important improvement. The G2 is based on a different and more common hoof shape which is one reason why the G2 is one of the most popular hoof boots we sell. The rear of the boot and side flaps have been integrated into the sole, making for a neater more streamlined profile. Another useful feature is the front protective shield which helps to prevent wear to the front of the hoof boot. The Old Mac's G2 horse boots are an easy hoof boot to put on, and can be fastened whilst the hoof is on the ground. G2's open right out to allow entry of the foot, and fasten using two means, an internal Velcro style webbing pastern strap followed by wrapping the boot around the foot, and securing using the Velcro style closure and a sturdy buckle at the rear of the boot.
The boots come with full fitting instructions, net storage bag and neoprene gaiters. The old mac's gaiters are recommended when wearing the boots for the first few times, a similar principal to wearing socks with trainers, they help to prevent any rubbing. If your horse is covering more than 25 miles a week or has sensitive skin it may be wise to use the gaiters in this situation too. Comfort pads are advised for use in any hoof boot for the most natural and beneficial experience for your horse.

When choosing and using any hoof boot:
Hoof boots (unless otherwise stated in the description) are intended for barefoot horses doing ridden work. They should be sized and fitted within 7 days of a trim suitable for a working barefoot horse (or at a time when there is nothing at all to trim, and there is still a good rolled edge). The size charts are a good guide to sizing, but this cannot take in to account of the angle of the hoof, heel height and other features of the hooves which will ultimately also effect the fit of the boots.
