The Easyboot Cloud Therapy Hoof Boot is the ultimate hoof boot for laminitis and other chronic hoof problems. The Easyboot cloud comes complete with a specialist removable and replaceable EVA hoof pad inside, that conforms to the hoof and offers additional comfort and support to the sole. The supportive tread reduces loading of the peripheral hoof wall, spreading weight across the entire solar area. The Cloud hoof boot offers a secure fit on the hoof, and is designed for use in the stable, yard, roundpen and  other restricted turnout (not designed for very muddy/ deep going or full turnout).

The Easyboot Cloud therapy hoof boot is the perfect boot for laminitics/ founder, thin or sore soles/ hooves, abscesses, and is also very useful for horses recovering from surgery or hoof problems, recovery after hard workouts and when stabling on hard surfaces for example at shows.

Seams and edges of the industrial strength Cordura upper of the Easyboot Cloud, are rounded for safety. A padded collar on this hoof boot provides additional relief to the pastern area. Three air vents provide air circulation to keep the hoof cool while preventing the accumulation of dirt and debris.

Each Easyboot Cloud hoof boot comes with a removable closed-cell EVA standard pad, replacement Cloud pads are sold separately.

Cloud Pads: Why they are angled?

The thinking behind this is as follows (as explained by one of Easycare's vet representatives):

Cloud pads have a 2 degree angle on them, which after short use compresses to a 1 degree angle. With the compression of the EVA pad, the pad will form a support system to specifically match what that particular hoof wants in order to feel more comfortable.

There is a line of thinking, that says in Laminitis, the deep digital flexor tendon pulls on the pedal bone, causing it to rotate downward. The idea behind a wedged pad is to provide some relief/pressure off of the flexor tendon, thus stopping the rotation of the pedal bone. The EVA pad also lends to comfort and cushioning at the toe to provide support/cushion to the tip of the pedal bone where the horse is showing tenderness due to the rotation.

A second line of thinking is that during laminitis, inflammation of the laminae, the hoof wall will start to pull forward at the toe, this in turn will cause the pedal bone to rotate downward since it is not being suspended as well by the compromised laminae. In this case, the EVA pad is supporting the toe region of the foot, and it is adding upward support to the underside of the pedal bone.

In both cases, the toe, under the tip of the pedal bone is inflamed due to the rotation. When the toe is uncomfortable, the horse will walk/stand with more pressure on the caudal region of the hoof. With increased pressure/weight on the caudal region, extra support, the wedged EVA pad, adds support to the overworked area.

Please note: We would always advise consulting your vet or farrier before using any product for remedial use, as every horse and every case is different, to make sure they feel the Cloud with their specially developed pads are right for your horse. It is also important to note that you must keep your horse even when wearing boots or shoes, you can boot/ shoe just fronts or just hinds, but you must always keep the pair of feet/ legs even.

When choosing and using this hoof boot:

The Cloud is only designed for therpeautic use in a stable/ yard/ small area such as a round pen. They are not designed for turnout or ridden work etc. These Hoof boots should ideally be sized and fitted within 7 days of a trim suitable for a working barefoot horse (or at a time when there is nothing at all to trim, and there is still a good rolled edge), but in an emergency when the boots need to be fitted between trims, please ensure that there is at least a good rolled edge on the hoof or you may cause damage to the pads. On some horses Cloud hoof boots can come up on the shorter side length wise, so if you are near the top of the length (and the width allows it), you may find you need to go to the next size up for the best fit. The size chart is a good guide to sizing, but this cannot take in to account of the angle of the hoof, heel height and other features of the hooves which will ultimately also effect the fit of the boots. If the hoof is an unusual shape or angle etc, you may well need a different size than the measurement suggest. If in doubt, please make use of our free hoof boot advice service which can be found here.
